Bishop’s Quay Construction Commences in Limerick
Dec 21, 2021
The €80m development at Bishop’s Quay in Limerick City has begun construction after an official sod-turning ceremony with the Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Daniel Butler.
The nine-storey riverside block (1BQ) will be located on the site of the former ESB building and will be due for completion in 2023. 1BQ will transform the Limerick City landscape with 10,0002 of high-spec office space, 34 luxury apartments, retail space and more than 100 underground car parking spaces. With excellent travel links and a skilled workforce, 1BQ has the potential to support Limerick’s growth with the ability to house 600 employees. 1 Bishop’s Quay will incorporate the principles of Near Zero Emissions Buildings (NZEB) and is designed to meet the highest standards of energy efficiency. This includes incorporating heat-pump technology and heat recovery ventilation systems to minimize energy loss, and photo voltaic panels to provide free solar. Electric car charging facilities and 100 bicycle spaces support active and sustainable travel in the city.
Initial construction works began in May 2020 with the demolition of the ESB building and the rear annex of the former Bord na gCon offices.
GARLAND are proud to be providing Civil & Structural and PSDP services on the development.
