Cathal Rigney Wins ACEI Emerging Engineer Award
Apr 11, 2016
Cathal Rigney, GARLAND Associate, won the Emerging Professional Consulting Engineer of the Year Award at the ACEI Annual Awards Dinner on Friday night last, 8th April 2016.
The Award is given to an upcoming consulting engineer who has excelled in their professional career and who has contributed significantly to the wider industry.
Cathal was up against and excellent shortlist of engineers, Ian Connolly of Downes Associates and Patrick Field of O’Connor Sutton Cronin. We are delighted with Cathal’s win and the recognition of his hard work and dedication to the profession.
Cathal joined the GARLAND Waterford office in 2005. In 2008 he transferred to the Dublin office where he has since progressed through the company and expanded on an impressive portfolio of projects. In 2012 Cathal volunteered to relocate to Saudi Arabia for a year to work with our Saudi partner. In that time he managed a €97.8 million industrial complex in King Abdullah Economic City.
When Cathal returned to Ireland he was made an Associate of GARLAND and leads one of our project teams handling a substantial portfolio of design work. Cathal is on the Structures Committee and Membership Committee of the ACEI.
We now wish Cathal good luck as he is the Irish entry for the European Young Professional Engineer of the Year Awards in Sofia, Bulgaria in early June.
