Simon Dunne

Simon is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland and a Chartered Structural Engineer, with extensive experience in civil and structural design, project management, and regulatory compliance. He is a member of both Engineers Ireland and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), where he actively contributes to the development of the profession through his committee work.
Since joining GARLAND, Simon has served as Project Director on numerous large-scale residential developments, while also delivering successful projects across the industrial, infrastructure, commercial, educational, healthcare, and public sectors, including conservation and restoration works. He is highly experienced in PSDP services, Assigned Certifier coordination, and leading multidisciplinary teams from concept to completion.
Simon is a strong advocate for sustainable engineering, and recently completed his term as Chair of the IStructE Republic of Ireland Regional Group (2023–2024). He currently sits on the IStructE Design Practice Risk and Structural Safety Committee and previously served as Secretary of the Regional Group.
With a particular interest in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Simon has delivered multiple projects to BIM Level 2, is a certified Project Information Manager and Task Information Manager, and has presented to the Construction IT Alliance on the adoption of BIM Level 2 at the National Children’s Hospital.
